Since tickets to the Bahamas were cheapest out of Chicago, we decided to make the most of it and experience a couple new spots during our short afternoon there. Our friends who live downtown picked out the places they've been wanting to check out & I'm glad we trusted them to do the hardwork. First up was The Bedford in Wicker Park. A very unique old bank building where you can choose to sit "in the vault" and enjoy some 1920's decor. I enjoyed a glass of Malbec and a shared cheese plate. It was so cool!
Next up for dinner was Blackbird, a restaurant with tons of James Beard award and nominations. It was fantastic! I can't stop thinking about it, that's how delicious it was. The feast went as follows...
confit of suckling pig with smoked date, stewed hazelnits, pickled shallot and dandilion
confit baby octopus with fennel, chestnut, finger lime and chilis
smoked wagyu tartare and crispy braised beef tongue with radish, black garlic and yogurt
sweet potato gnocchi with black trumpet mushrooms, buttermillk, toasted garlic and seaweeds
for dessert I had grapefruit sorbet & cracked pepper macaroons
YUM, who know a baby octopus would be so delicious?
