Finally arrived!

Well we've made it to Montana! Hurray, the inside of our car was getting preeeetty boring. One can only car dance for so long. We took a stop on the way to check out the Teddy Roosevelt State Park and the Badlands. I spotted a bison and saw lots of prairie dogs. It was a short visit but awesome because it was finally something different than flat fields!

We finally made it to our campsite and I cooked some delicious Tex Mex dinner and relaxed & stargazed later that night. Convinced ourselves we had found the Milky Way. I then proceeded to have the best night's sleep ever. Okay maybe not ever but in a tent for sure. It was perfect weather.

Today we floated the Big Horn river for about four hours and I caught two brown trouts all by myself! It was pretty awesome because I don't believe it counts if you only reel them in, even though Kris pretends it does. Even an older man who was fishing nearby, complimented me! I was pumped.

Of course we threw them all back, so really nobody lost. Tomorrow is another day of floating the river &  I need to remember my camera this time & catch some more fish, so I can actually document.

road trippin'

Today we had twelve hours in the car. Gross. There was a lot of car dancing on my part & a lot of driving on Kris' part. We successfully made it through the rest of Michigan on to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and half way through North Dakota. Whew. Tomorrow it's my turn to drive...a manual transmission. Wish me luck!

Ann Arbor

newer piece of my Dad's

taking a break

On wednesday Kris & I drove over to Ann Arbor for their annual art show. My dad was in the show again this year so it's always fun to hang out with him for the day at his booth & wander around looking at everyone else's work. If only I had a steady many things would have been scooped up. I took a few photos of things I found interesting such as smoking elves and white rats on leashes. It was beyond hot and sticky that day so a lot of time was spent wallowing in the shade and trying not to get heat stroke. We also ate the best corndog, it brought back some Rothbury memories (where I ate about three a day). Ann Arbor is awesome, I wish I could live there for a year so I could eat at all the delicious non-chain restaurants. I'm jealous.

happy monday!

Dagus came over to play.
the proper prince

I included some canine photos for fun. The prince shot of Rio was not posed which makes it even more hilarious. Lately I've been getting everything organized & purchased for our big road trip out west. We're hitting the road the 27th and our plan is mostly go with the flow, take our time & explore whatever we want! Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Chico Hot Springs, and things along those lines. I haven't camped for more than a few days before so I'm meal planning and purchasing everything we need to ease my anxiety. Like bear mace. Yikes. I plan to try & blog along the way so I don't forget where we went & what we did. (ahem, Italy).

Today Kris & I took a quick trip to Kalamazoo to check it out since I've never been. We might end up there eventually with Kris at Bronson hospital. We ate a super delicious lunch at Food Dance (a place where everything on the menu sounds good...that doesn't always happen). After that we went to Water Street. I'm wishing on a star they'll hire me if we end up there. I have a soft spot for any and all coffee shops, especially independently owned ones. After the quick trip we went to the Saugatuk beach for a couple hours and played in the lake. I love freshwater.

Kris's 27th Birthday

Kris turns 27 today! Holy grown up. He gets to celebrate with an exam this morning & going out for  a super unhealthy lunch (burger & chili cheese fries) later today. Staying busy with school he can't celebrate too hard but I'm sure this weekend we'll make up for it. He's been through thick & thin with me for three years and I love him incredibly! Two silly pictures from recently...

Today we rode our bikes down to our local farmer's market (where sadly we've never been before today) & ate a delicious lunch from the Trailer Park'd food stand & bought lot's of goodies from the market. Happiness!

twenty two

I have too many things to post from Italy it's a bit overwhelming. Instead, I turned twenty two yesterday which is pretty exciting. After all the chaos of the last month I didn't really have the energy/motivation to plan a get together so it was pretty low key. My day consisted of Kris cooking me french toast & bacon for breakfast, my favorite sushi brought home for lunch, a pedicure, and my favorite comfort food dinner : bbq chicken, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. A couple friends came over for dinner, drinks, and I forced them into playing cash cab the board game because it's awesome. All in all, a great and relaxing birthday!
